The overland route goes across France on the autoroute network and into Spain at La Jonquera for the Mediterranean side or Irún for the Atlantic and the central plateau. The sea route takes the Portsmouth-to-Bilbao or Santander ferry, trading a longer crossing for a much shorter Spanish road leg — often the better call for a Costa del Sol or southern delivery. Do you drive the whole way or use the ferry to Spain?

Both are on the table. The overland route crosses France and enters Spain at La Jonquera or Irún; the Portsmouth-to-Bilbao or Santander ferry shortens the Spanish road leg and is often better for a southern delivery. We recommend the routing that fits your move and load in the written quote.

What is the NIE and do I need it before the move?

The NIE is the Spanish foreigner’s identity number, and the change-of-residence customs relief leans on it. You obtain it on the Spanish side or via a consulate — we do not obtain it for you — but having it in hand, or a clear timeline for it, helps us sequence the customs side so it closes cleanly.

Can you deliver to a gated urbanización on the Costa?

Yes — coastal-community deliveries are routine. Flag the gated-community access rules, hillside approaches and lane width, since the final mile sometimes needs a smaller transfer vehicle, and we plan the delivery leg around them.

Can the London end be an urgent or out-of-hours collection?

Yes. Spain being a long haul does not change how we handle London — if the building or street needs an evening, overnight or weekend collection, we plan the load for that hour and set off from there.
