Removals from London to Portugal

The far Atlantic corner of Europe — the longest western run. Across France and Spain, or the northern-Spain ferry, then south-west to Lisbon, Porto and the Algarve.

The route

Why this move
from London.

Portugal is the furthest of our four European routes, and the way we run it reflects that. The overland journey goes across France, the length of Spain, and into Portugal from the east. The alternative shortens the road time by taking the Portsmouth-to-Bilbao or Santander ferry and running south-west across the Iberian Peninsula from there. Porto and the north sit closer to the northern-Spain entry; Lisbon, the Silver Coast and the Algarve are the far south-western end of the trip. As ever, the London collection is timed to your building and street first.

The moves we run from London to Portugal are mostly lifestyle with a professional edge. The Algarve — Faro, Lagos, Albufeira, Tavira — is the retirement and second-home heartland. Lisbon and the Cascais-Estoril coast pull the professional and remote-working set and the international-school families, while Porto and the Silver Coast draw a growing crowd looking west of Lisbon. Because we specialise in moving people at short notice, we can get you out of London cleanly and see the long leg through with the same crew.

Post-Brexit, a Portuguese move needs a customs declaration, and we handle it clearly. Change-of-residence relief (mudança de residência) covers used household goods on a genuine move, filed against your Portuguese paperwork and a detailed inventory. Your NIF and your residency registration anchor it, and those are yours to complete in Portugal; our filing supports the relief so your belongings arrive without sitting in customs limbo.

Where we deliver

Destinations across Portugal.

Lisbon & Cascais

Professional, remote-working and international-school moves. Historic quarters like Alfama and Bairro Alto are steep and narrow — a smaller transfer vehicle is often needed; the Cascais-Estoril coast is easier.

Porto

Creative, tech and lifestyle moves, and the city closest to the northern-Spain ferry entry. Ribeira and the old town are tight; the outskirts are routine.

Algarve (Faro, Lagos, Albufeira)

The retirement and second-home heartland — villa and resort-community access is generally good, with gated rules and coastal approaches to note.

Silver Coast (Caldas, Óbidos)

A growing lifestyle belt west and north of Lisbon, with rural and small-town addresses where lane width matters.

Cascais & Estoril

A coastal professional and expat belt west of Lisbon; villa and apartment deliveries along the coast road.

Tavira & the eastern Algarve

The quieter eastern coast — old-town access needs a smaller vehicle, outlying villas are routine.

Customs, handled

No “sort it
at the border.”

Portugal is outside the UK, so a move needs a customs declaration on both sides. We prepare the UK export side before the vehicle leaves London and the Portuguese import side on arrival. Change-of-residence relief (mudança de residência) covers used household goods on a genuine move, filed against your Portuguese paperwork and a signed inventory. Your NIF (tax number) and residency registration are steps you complete in Portugal; our filing supports the relief rather than obtaining them for you.

Worth thinking about

01

Whether the overland run or the northern-Spain ferry suits you — Porto and the north are closer to the ferry entry, while the Algarve is the far south-western end.

02

The London collection hour — an out-of-hours or weekend pickup is often the cleanest way out of a busy street or a lift-restricted block, and we can arrange it.

03

Your NIF — the relief leans on the tax number and your residency registration, so having the NIF or a clear timeline helps the customs side close.

London to Portugal — questions

Good to know.

Is Portugal the longest move you run?
Of our four European routes, yes — it is the far Atlantic corner, either a full overland run across France and Spain or a northern-Spain ferry then south-west across the peninsula. Rather than a day count, the written quote sets out the routing and what shapes the timing.
Do you deliver to Algarve villas and resort communities?
Yes — the Algarve is the busiest part of the Portugal route. Villa and resort deliveries are routine; flag gated-community access and any narrow coastal approach and we plan the final leg around them.
What is the NIF and do I need it first?
The NIF is the Portuguese tax number, and the change-of-residence relief leans on it alongside your residency registration. You obtain it on the Portuguese side or via a consulate — we do not do that for you — but having it in hand, or a clear timeline, helps the customs side close cleanly.
Can you handle a Lisbon old-town delivery?
Yes, with planning. Alfama and Bairro Alto streets are steep and narrow, so the final stretch often needs a smaller transfer vehicle from a nearby holding point. Send the exact address and access notes and we build the delivery leg around it.
